we’d love to tell you that kelly + olive are our decorating alter egos. we really wish we had capes and tights. the truth is something a bit simpler: we’re lauren and courtney. best friends, virginia natives, former theatre artists and designers, thirty-somethings, thrifters, and internet junkies.
but oh, friends, how we love the internet. we could spend all day surfing it’s silvery waves, looking at beautiful rooms. in fact, that’s what we were doing before there was a kelly + olive. we were sitting on our butts at various and sundry desk jobs, working for the man; but secretly, we were sneaking peeks at design blogs and plotting epic redesigns for anyone and everyone who even hinted that their home needed a makeover. we started a blog, then we started working for our friends, our family, then friends-of-our-friends-and-family, and then we thought, could there be a market for this?

so it seems. in march of 2009, kelly + olive was born. and here we are! still two girls who love design and the internet so equally, but girls who don’t sit at desks anymore. we’re on our couches (or on your couches), with our laptops open, plotting, planning, and scouting, for affordable, unique design for you. and sometimes for ourselves. but mostly you! seriously, it’s all for you.

we love what we do, and we really believe that your place can look awesome. but we don’t think you need to drop 20k on some curtains to make that happen. not in the age of the internet! if it’s out there, we can find it for you. if it’s not, we’ll figure out how to make it for much cheaper, without looking, well, cheap.
